The Shasta Lake region offers forest-road and off-road trip possibilities for properly equipped vehicles. Plan around the specific route, vehicle type, current restrictions and conditions before bringing an ATV or 4WD vehicle.

Start with Official Motor-Vehicle Maps

Use the Shasta-Trinity National Forest’s Motor Vehicle Use Maps to identify designated routes, permitted vehicle classes and seasonal allowances. Check current Forest Service alerts as well.

Can You Ride Directly from a Vacation Home?

Do not assume an ATV can legally travel on public roads between a retreat and a trail. Confirm the requirements for your specific vehicle and complete route before riding. Plan to trailer your vehicle where necessary.
