Hello Past and Future Guests,
Unfortunately at times we lose power in Lakehead at our homes just like every other location in California. Although normally it is only one of two times during the fall when PG&E proactively shuts off power due to winds and a high fire danger plus the possibility of it happening in the winter from an unusually strong storm. This happens maybe once a year of once every two years normally. This is normally due to heavy snow fall or winds pushing trees onto power lines.
Power failures can range from a few hours to multiple days. In all three homes we have a kit of flash lights and in the case of Retreat 1 and Retreat 2 we do have a external generator that can be used. These are portable generators that require you to run extension cords to a few key appliances. These are not whole home or automatic backup systems (although we hope to eventually installed these type of units).
Although these power failures are unpredictable and out of our control, we will work with our guests as best we can if a power failure develops or there is a planned event by PG&E.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
