Jeff Goodwin Guide ServicesWith half of our Sacramento River Striped bass fishing season behind us, it’s time to start looking at our Shasta Lake trout/salmon fishery! Summer fishing on Shasta is undoubtedly the best time to fish for rainbows, browns, and King salmon. Both size and quantity is the highlight of our summer fishing on Shasta which makes it one of our most popular venues we offer during the summer months. June through September is the peak period for our summer season with limits to near limits being the daily guides expectation for our groups. Yes, we do miss fishing for River Kings in California during summer, but if there’s a silver lining, it’s that Shasta Lake is just as much fun in so many ways. When fishing Shasta in the summer it’s not a matter of just catching fish so much as it is how many! For these reasons, it’s a great trip for all ages and skill levels. Weather is always great and although we experience some hot weather, most days we already have lots of fish in the cooler before it gets too uncomfortable for most of our groups. Our captains take the brunt of the discomfort working on the back decks of their boats while our clients enjoy the shade under the boat canopy’s. We do all the work, supply all the necessary equipment, and process your catch at the end of the trip. Lots of our client groups come back to fish with us on Shasta every season so it’s turned into one of our most booked trips. With Shasta Lake nearly full, we expect to have a great summer season and expect to experience above average bookings like we had last year. We offer morning pick ups at all of the resorts/marinas on the lake and will pick house boaters up at there mooring locations anywhere on the lake as well.
